I went through a drive-thru the other day. My order came to $1.07. I grabbed some change.

Here is the conversation I had with myself:

There’s a nickel. And lots of pennies. Ooohhh, let’s get rid of that penny. It’s ugly.

It’s ugly? Where did that come from? It may be dirty, but it has the same value as the other shiny pennies.

Isn’t that what we do with people?  We discard those that don’t look like us, dress like us, act like us.

That’s sad. I love this penny. I’m keeping it to remind me not to judge a penny by it’s sheen. Or a person by their appearance.
